I would've posted this in the "another ban proposed" thread talking about the school run car ban, but this one is far worse:
Police chief calls for alcohol ban in public places

No more chilling with friends in parks or by the riverside over a can or two from the offy, because kids who it's obvious shouldn't be drinking anyway are getting drunk on white lightning they shouldn't have been sold anyway and beating people up...
Just in case he was in danger of not seeming radical enough with his suggestion:

We've had this for years in Glasgow. It sucks balls. Not that it stops us but it can make an ordeal out of a sunny afternoon in the park.
